A one-hit wonder is an act that appears on the chart just once, or has one song that peaks exceptionally higher, or charts for exceptionally longer than other chart entries by the act. The term true one-hit wonder was the term given by the Guinness Book of British Hit Singles & Albums (and also the Billboard book Top Pop Singles) for an act that has one top 40 hit and nothing else on the chart ever.
In 1952 he purchased what was then WLAF-AM in Lafayette, Indiana and constructed WAZY-AM/FM which is still the longest running top 40 FM station in existence to this day. In 1954, Storz purchased WHB-AM, a high-powered station in Kansas City, Missouri, which could be heard throughout the Midwest and Great Plains, converted it to an all-hits format, and dubbed the result "top 40". Shortly thereafter WHB debuted the first "top 40 countdown", a reverse-order playing of the station's ranking of hit singles for that week. Within a few years, top 40 stations appeared all over the country to great success, spurred by the burgeoning popularity of rock and roll music, especially that of Elvis Presley. A 1950s employee at WHB, Ruth Meyer, went on to have tremendous success in the early to mid-60's as program director of New York's premiere top 40 station at that time, WMCA.
Some of these are formalised law enforcement relationships that we have had for a long time – for example, I was the NCA’s embed to the FBI in Washington DC for a number of years. A new entry is a title which is making its début in that chart. It is applied to all charts, for instance a track which is outside the Top 40 but which later climbs into that level of the chart is considered to be a 'new entry' to the Top 40 that week. In most official charts, tracks have to have been on sale for a period of time in order to enter the chart; however, in some retailers' charts, new releases are included in charts as 'new entries' without a sales history in order read more to make them more visible to purchasers.
In the NCA, we are predominantly focused on financially motivated cybercrime, with ransomware as a main area of focus given how significant the threat it poses to the UK. We recognise that some cybercrime groups have connections to the Russian State (for example, see the activity we led against the EVILCORP group in 2019 and 2024), but assess that these type of deep-rooted relationships are likely to be the exception as opposed to the norm.

This tender R&B track by Khamari is trending on TikTok for sweet love-story posts. Creators are using the lyric “she’s got dreams of white confetti” as the structure for their videos: the first slide shows a woman on her own with the text “she’s got dreams,” followed by a second slide with “of white confetti” over a collage of moments with their partner.

But Martin recalls: “Some of the biggest years for single sales were in 1978 and 1979. Then, there were 78 million singles sold in the UK, partly because of the growth of punk and disco coming together and because it was just a massive time for music.
